I have to decide where I want to go for work experience for at least 5 days around the end of June this year but I don’t have many ideas. I’m studying maths, biology, physics and chemistry at AS level at the minute, so some teachers have recommended going to a local vet’s or Almac possibly.
My main problem is I’m an extremely quiet and backward person so I would kind of want to stay away from placements where I need to talk a lot, hence why I was advised not to go to my local primary school even though that would be easy to arrange.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!!

Have you thought about what you might want to study when you finish college? Aim for something relevant for that, even if your ideas are quite broad currently.
Instead of choosing something where you won't need to talk a lot, I would suggest using this as an opportunity to try and put yourself out there a little bit more and increase your confidence!
Some suggestions:
- Nursing homes (popular for people considering medicine)
- Banks
- Labs (universities in particular may be quieter over summer)
- Museums
- Retail (very easy to get although potentially limited relevance to your future plans)Last edited by Little Tail Chaser; 02-03-2018 at 01:50. -

If you're genuinely interested in a future vetinary career, you need to start grafting now. Entry is hugely competitive as there are fewer than 10 vetinary schools in the UK, so selection panels can immediately reject applicants with inadequate work experience.
