I’ve recently got into a dispute with a couple of my friends over the fact that i often don’t have money for expensive/ train tickets/ big meals out / club events or concerts. They don’t have jobs apart from doing 8 hour shifts in cafes etc on saturdays or sunday’s which everyone knows will only earn you around £200 a month and i make £160. The difference is my parents don’t give me any money whereas as theirs give them about £50-70 a month. Obviously we all go to college 5 days a week so can’t work more than that but i personally don’t see why my parents should be giving me money when i can get a job. Not complaining about my parents what the usual is for most

When I was in 6th form, I didn't really get anything, just clothes and food

Your friends shouldn't expect you to afford all the things you can if they know you don't get any pocket money and solely rely on your job. They should be grateful they're getting extra money on top of what they're earning, especially if they don't have to contribute to other things such as rent, bills and food.
