I've just been to my nearest 24 hour Tesco to buy a few things for tomorrow morning only to find it's closed! The shelves selling flowers near the entrances were blocking the two entrances and a few minutes later the shutters went down. I had a look through the windows and the vast majority of shelves seemed well stocked and there was lots of staff doing the shelf packing as normal. :unimpressed:

Might be the checkout trained staff can't get into store? Or they feel the carpark and entrances are too slippery to risk opening?

I saw the guy who usually supervises the self checkouts stood seemingly chatting to someone (usually there are no ordinary tills open so only he is required at point of paying), plus the security guard was at his station as usual and the car park was open - lots of people seen going from, then back into their cars feeling disappointed. The entrance walkway was clear and gritted.

A lot of places are closing early because in these weather conditions the roads get slippery late at night.

Alas, even the local M&S is shut. What has the world come to?

All the news and weather reports weren't so extreme last time so big corporations weren't feeling the pressure to keep their employees and customers safe

They maybe open 24 hours a day, but at night they are closed.
