    hey,
we have to choose our GCSE options in a week and I am really stuck on what to do
    I am doing so far...
    math
triple science(its compulsory in our school)
    english
    Spanish
and history(or geography haven't decided bit leaning towards history)

I get two other creative options and I want to become a fashion designer when I am older so I am definitely art textiles. But I am torn between photography and business as I don't know which one would be more fun or which one would be more useful to me in later life.

It would be great to get other peoples feedback

Photography would probably be more fun and could be useful although you could probably learn the techniques without studying it at GCSE.
GCSE business studies seems piss easy and not particularly useful, just common sense.

The advice I wish I took when I was choosing my options is do what you think you'd like best, not what looks good on your CV. Most people change their mind on the career they want which is fine but the career doesn't need to be your only focus. I chose History because everyone was saying how it brings career opportunities but now I find it so hard to engage with and revise because I don't actually enjoy it.

Business gives you a good understanding of general things as well as specific business things e.g you'll know the difference between an overdraft, a standard loan and a mortgage in more detail, your rights as an employee and things like that but then also more business specific things such as ownership, marketing, financial accounts etc...

I can't say much for photography but I know everyone complains about the coursework (not sure if there will still be some on the new GCSEs). It's not just taking pictures and editing, there seems to be a lot of writing involved but that's the case with most courses I'm assuming. I'm sure it'd be a good creative course for fashion design but business would probably keep your options wider. Although, again there's no point in keeping your options wide if you don't enjoy it.

Remember in September you will probably have a few weeks where you can change subjects if you don't like them - though I recommend waiting at least a week to get a feel for the subject. Good luck in GCSEs!
