hmm yeahh
i really have no idea how they choose it

i hope they can make a distinction between japan and china, cos the games will be very different, so i don't think the fact china was last year should really be a factor.

Japan is actually pretty far away from China if you look at it on a world map, i spose people just make the association because they're both 'exotic', 'everyone looks the same', and they happen to be next to each other despite actually being hundreds of miles apart.

i'm so anti an american games ever since i was on holiday there during the beijing olympics.
the tv coverage was awful and they talked about how it "brought everyone together" when every single bit of footage was just on the american competitors. stupid nobs.

bring onnn tokyo

Oh yea...I understand that Japan and China are different :O I was just saying that the IOC tend to rotate the games between continents. I.e. it was held in China (Asia) last year, and will be held in Britain (Europe) this year, so the chances are it WON'T be Europe again for 2016 (especially seeing as it was held in Greece (Europe) in 2004.

I'm guessing it's because they tended to be dominated by being hosted in European cities (and North American) that they tried this 'fairer' approach. Although in my opinion it is whatever city can put on the best show/experience regardless of where it is.
Another problem is that they will be voting this year...quite recently after being in Asia.

I personally don't know what to expect of an American games, can't say I remember a the last time they hosted, although I was only 6...

indeedy, I was looking at their bid (saw a link on the bbc news front page ironically) and they were talking about using these gadets to like...direct torurists to the events and other destinations using chips built into buildings etc, just amazing.

That being said I think the head of the IOC who said about the continent rotaion retired or something...can't remember.

I was there, after talking to the current fourth years, I really want to start the course asap! The lift in the Arts Tower is amazing! :eek3: Shame about the weather though, it was so gloomy.

I was also wondering where were all the students, are they on a semester break? (the place looked a bit empty)

ooh interesting
you applied to cambridge instead then? personally i would have put SOAS down instead of edinburgh but maybe that's me :P

what's edinburgh's problem haha, they give out like BBB offers but it's next to impossible to get into if you're english
Sheffield deffo your firm then Kim? Rejected from Edinburgh and Cambridge. Oh what a shame. I did Sheffield firm, Manchester insurance (though I did withdraw Manchester in the end). Edinburgh's near impossible to get into anyway Jack I swear just cos we're English!

Endcliffe is the place to go, and yer more and more people are applying. But ya know, you should get in. I mean YES I SUPPOSE people like me already with A level results, or just already with results, get in there first. OH WELL. Scottish students too as they get their IB before our A level don't they? Should get in. Just make sure you all apply ASAP when it comes online early next month.

Was just thinking however much I want an ensuite, it is pricey for one - over 4k. Is there not a self catering option without ensuite? I'll still go for Endcliffe though. I'm annoyed that you can't apply online until early next month! I can't apply online again (as did last year) so will have to get my sister to print off the app form and then she'll have to fill it in. Though I looked at the 2008/2009 form and did not understand it. Online is so much easier. What I'm saying is I may need a lil help in a bit please..

My Japanese is awful. I haven't studied it since October and I was still on the kana haa.

I'll help you Franny :tsr2:

Yes Sheffield is definitely my firm. And nah Jack, SOAS is awful for social life, I'd never want to go there, especially when Sheffield's course is supposedly on par
Thanks babe.

Yer SOAS is pretty small too - 5000 students or so in total. Kim's too much of a hardcore raver to go to SOAS. Go Sheffield. We need to blatantly start a society.
Reply 557
Let's all be hardcore ravers! :tsr2: :thrasher:

Lookin' good in the new pic jacky boy :teeth:
woop, got me accomidation pack through today o/ exciting times!

Funnily enough I got accepted by Edinburgh, Manchester and Sheffield. I got rejected by Leeds :|

Waiting on SOAS, considering withdrawring the application as I have, as other have said, no intention of going there.

Oo I got that through today as well

I'm thinking of dropping my application for SOAS as well, didn't particularly like it, and they won't be replying for a while by the looks of things anyway.
