Low maintenance grant?

**EDIT** please ignore/delete - I have just found a letter on my account which had not reached me in the post (presumably due to weather) explaining the issue

I have just had my application for a loan for teacher training in 2018/19 approved, but I have only been offered £4,054 for the maintenance grant.

I applied as an independent student as I have supported myself for the last 3 years and I sent P60s from that time as evidence. My income is only £7-8000 per year. According to the student finance calculator on the gov.uk website I should be entitled to the full £8,700, so why am I only being offered £4000?

I'll have to cut my hours right down - if not leave my job completely - in order to do my course, so £4000 is not going to be enough!
