I’m in year 13 and have applied for natural sciences because I don’t know what else to do. I’m not passionate about science and don’t want to go in to research. What other careers would be open to me?

I look at medicine/ dentistry courses and think it looks really interesting. The reason I didn’t apply for it this year is because I didn’t have the work experience and I’m not sure if I could cope with having a stressful life as a doctor.

If I withdrew my natural sciences application and took a gap year, I could apply for dentistry. But I know it’s hard to get in to, and so if I got rejected I wouldn’t want to take another gap year. Can you apply to or contact unis (eg. For natural sciences) after all the deadlines (like in March 2019) and see if they’ll give you a place? I don’t want to give up my natural sciences course this year and perhaps get rejected next year and have no university to go to.

I just don’t know what I want to do with my life and it’s starting to upset me. Everyone else I know seems sure of what course they want to do. They’re like “I’m going to be a vet” or whatever and I just don’t see where my life is leading me to.

I really woulnt go to uni until you know what you want to do. Focus on getting the best grades possible and that gives you options. Many threads in TSR with people choosing the wrong course.
