So I'm going out in a few hours but my throat is really sore and it hurts when I cough. Do I power through the night or bail?
    Any advice would be appretiated.

Your cold will almost certainly get worse because being in close proximity with lots of people, exchanging germs in the cold is the perfect environment for colds and flus to spread. It’s up to you if your short term pleasure at the party is worth an extra week of feeling ill.

Alcohol will temporarily make your sore throat go away. So that won't be a problem once you start drinking.

I'd go out.. but thats me.

A few beers always used to get rid of my sore throat. Must be due to the muscles in the throat becoming more relaxed. Make sure you drink a LOT of water though, cause being dehydrated whilst having a cold ****ing sucks.
