I am embarrassed to say that I would not know them if I saw them.

I was thinking of buying these for prom and other relatively formal occasions. Are these douchey?
Yes. Everything Ted Baker is douchey.

If you go on Ebay and look up "vintage cufflinks" you'll see loads of items under £10 which are infinitely more sophisticated at a fraction of the cost.

With cufflinks, you want understated and nothing with someone's name on it - you don't want to look like an estate agent.

As a very young person - under 18, you're always going to be treading a tightrope if you're going for sartorial elegance. You need to be above both the estate agent look and also away from the suited fedora man.

Pocket squares will make you look eccentric if you're under 21 or so.

Double cuffs are pretty standard nowadays, but the wrong cuflinks can make you look like a real loser. Also, metal ones can be really noisy on a desk.

But if you are going for ultimate VI Form swag, don't wear a suit. Do the pocket square and double cuffs - but also try cords, a single breasted velvet jacket, and alternate between a bow tie and a cravate.
i think this outfit is rather jolly:

I'm not sold on the shoes and I think the watch chains are a bit much - but I suppose that is quite nice.
