This year I am doing a songwriting course that is worth 2 A-levels and I am expected to get distinction, distinction*. But I am not sure what to do next year. A degree in music doesn't exactly get a job and it's the experience of getting out there and doing it yourself e.g gigs, open mics etc etc. I'm also only 16 and 17 when I start so for almost one year of the course I won't be able to do the 'uni experiences' which is quite depressing in my opinion. So surely the best thing to do is get a job at a coffee shop for about 9 months then concentrate on my music and songwriting then get a degree? Or should i just do a degree now at 17?
    Help!

You don't need a degree to carry on in this industry. You are right that you need experience so go out and get that.

I think it's great that you know what you want from life in your age. I think practice is what you need, not a degree.
