The whole point of the apprenticeship is for the work experience. If you want to leave early 'because you've finished the college work' means you are not in the apprenticeship for the correct reasons. Stick with it, the employer reference you receive will be very good on your CV, also it may be worth checking your contract with them as I am fairly sure you wont legally be able to leave without the potential for being sued by the company.

What field is the apprenticeship in?

    Hi there,

Interesting question, I'm sure you're not the first apprentice to wonder if this is possible.

Firstly - do you have your certificates for your qualification to show evidence of completion?

Secondly - have you read your contract in full regarding leaving the apprenticeship early? Do you know how much notice you will need to give etc.

If you enjoy the position I would advise staying till the end as it could lead to permanent employment or moving onto the next level of qualification. Even if it doesn't 12 months experience will look better on your CV than 8 months.

Bottom line is - you are free to leave your apprenticeship at any time as it is not compulsory education. If you are under 18 you will need to find an alternative form of education that takes you up to your 18th birthday. As long as you follow the leaving procedure set out in your contract your employer cannot stop you leaving.

It would be great to hear back from you with more information.

    Thanks - Sophie.
