    A job has come up where I work. It seems comes up 3 or 4 times a year. And they recruit several at a time.

    It's the next step I want to take.

    However issue is
    -I've been here 5 months only, the company have spent a lot of money to set up the interview process, train me etc. they will see it as a loss of money?
    - the department I work is in short of staff, we are behind. They will be recruiting for the team soon tho

    - I just don't want to spam the HR with my CV, so I may just wait till summer or next time

    Nothing to lose but everything to gain, I would say go for it.

    Even if you are not successful, your department will not find out unless you tell them, and you will likely get valuable feedback on why you are not yet suitable for the role.

    It's not a loss to the company is you move on within the company. If an organisation hires an internal candidate, then the line managers usually negotiate the start date so that neither team is massively inconvenienced. You might try asking the new department about the role, try to get more info and be very clear about how well your skills fit. When making an internal application it's best to try and be as competitive as possible, random or poorly constructed internal applications can get you a bit of a poor reputation.

    Thanks this is really good advice,

    I have researched well into the role, and made a new cv and cover letter which reflects this.

    I will apply online;

    Do you think it's worth emailing the internal recruitment person, and telling them I am aware of the start date issue, and see if she can be flexible and sort something out between the managers?

    No, you haven't got the job offer yet!
