# A level Mathematics FACTORING QUESTION watch

1. Im not too sure if this is a a- level question or not but when your factoring a quadratic and the 'a' value is a negative in (ax^2 + bx + c ), would the ac method work? for example factoring the equation (-x^2 + 2x + 24) would give a result of using the ac method (x - 6)(x + 4) but when expanding this you get a positive value for ' a '???
2. (-x^2+2x+24)=-(x^2-2x-24)=-(x-6)(x+4)=(6-x)(4+x) etc
