A tuning fork of frequency 256 Hz is sounded at the same time as a wire vibrating at its fundamental frequency. Six beats are heard every second. The prongs of the tuning fork are then tightly loaded with plasticine causing the fundamental frequency to reduce to four beats per second. Calculate:
a) fundamental frequency of the wire
b) If the fundamental frequency of the wire is 250hz what is the
i) frequency of the loaded tuning fork
ii) the wave speed and the tension in the wire if the mass per unit length of wire is 7.40x10^-3 kgm^-1 and its length is 25.0cm.
I thought i understood this topic but i can't even answer the first question someone help. Thanks
