I’m in year 11 and I have to decide what subjects I wanna do in year 12. I’m thinking about Chemistry, maths and sociology what do you think? But I’m really scared to take chemistry as everyone is saying that it is really difficult, the most difficult A-level, which I think is not quite true but anyway, tell me what u think. I read on top uni pages that in order to get into them to do medicine u have to take two sciences but then if I do two sciences it’s gonna be too hard.. so I’m really lost and I have no idea whether I should pick these subjects or not.
    Please please help me!!

I think chemistry is not too tough. It takes time to study it well but once if you are done up it. It will be interesting subject. When I started it I was afraid but later on I loved it. If you feel that you will work hard to study them then you can choose it. :cute:

in all honestly if you want the best chance of getting into medicine at a top uni then you should be thinking about taking maths, chemistry and biology as this is what most competitive applicants will have. as long as you are comfortable with GCSE sciences and are willing to work hard and aren't atrocious at maths you should cope fine with science a levels but be aware that medicine courses are a ***** to get into and many strong candidates are rejected even with three science a levels.

You are taking a fair number of universities out of your grasp by not having at least AS Biology.

If it's too hard, then don't do it; nobody is forcing you to.

Everything desirable in life is hard -entry into top law schools are hard, entry into investment banking is hard; getting into a top 3 uni is hard etc
