I would like to start doing digital art but have no idea where to begin. In the beginning at least, I don't want to have spend a lot of money... Advice? Inexpensive tools or programs?

When I first started out I used a Wacom Intuos Draw tablet. It's small but gets the job done and also helps you to get a feel for digital drawing. You can download software to use with it for free, details about this come with the tablet, and I quite liked Gimp just to play around with which is also free
