Curious as to how long everyone thinks is a appropriate amount of time to be dating someone before you propose and get engaged?

    I say 2 years minimum

Depends on the couple I guess and how old you are - for instance I know a couple who are in their early 30s who’ve been dating about a year and are engaged, seems totally fine.... but wouldn’t seem as fine if they were in their early 20s.

Personally I think the longer the better (just for me) - maybe 5 years? I’ve been with my boyfriend 4 years and honestly if he proposed I’d laugh.

I also don’t get the whole proposing then waiting like 2 years to get married. If you want to propose you want to get married... what’s the point of being engaged for bloody ages.

Marriage is so fkin dumb why would a man really want to get married? It has zero benefit to men but females have alot to gain, its a big fat scam.

I agree, to an extent. I can't see myself not getting married, but I'll make sure to have an legally binding contract that stops be getting screwed over if it were to ever end in divorce

I got engaged after six weeks. I had just turned 18. We got married a year later. Lucky for me it worked out, we’ve been married 14 years this year. It is not something I would advise though, I think it’s too quick. If you’re going to spend the rest of your life with someone, a year or two to get the point of engagement shouldn’t matter.
