Hi I'm Aaminah,

I know this is early, but wanted to create this thread for others who want to study at Birmingham.

I thought that introducing ourselves and getting to know each other in advance, would be nice when it comes to UCAS and just general A-Level advice.

GCSE's:
A-Level Subjects & Predicted Grades:
Course:
Universities:
Extra-curriculars:

GCSE's:

3A*'s, 5A's and 2B's

A-Level Subjects & Predicted Grades:

A*'s in EPQ and History
A's in Geography and Business

I feel like my predictions from my teachers are very accurate (just want to get the A in Business up to an A*).

Course:

Law definitely, I kept changing my mind but it's probably going to end up being Law.

Universities

I love Birmingham (it will probably be my 1st choice), Oxford (would be my first choice, if I had a chance of getting in), Dundee, Aberdeen. Edinburgh, UCL (I've visited so many times, and I love it!), Southampton and Exeter.

Extra Curricular's:
  • History, Maths and Geography mentor to Year 11 students
  • Part of the Gifted & Talented Programme at my school + I mentor 4 Year 11 kids as part of this
  • Prefect at school
  • Volunteer for this programme aimed at Year 9
  • Board of Director's Member of our Charity Fundraising Group (raised £1200 so far)
  • Part of the Geography and Environmental Society
  • I currently am a tutor, and tutor 11+ students
  • I also am a regular columnist for the student run newspaper
  • Hoping to apply for Head Girl
  • I have a website which focuses on my experience of applying to universities and getting kids into summer schools and work experience (hoping to get lots of Year 11's on the UCL and Cambridge Year 11 Summer School's)

I've done a lot of uni and career events:
  • 1 week work experience at a barristers firm
  • Applied for Sutton Trust Politics and History Summer School
  • UCL Year 11 Summer School
  • Reading Scholars' Programme (Business Strand)
  • UCL Human Rights Gateway Conference
  • I've done an insight day at the Bank of America
  • I've applied to PwC for work experience

Very much doubt GCSE grades had anything to do with it, but I got 3 A*s, 5 As, 2 Bs.

Ah okay- I got exactly the same grades as you!

Could I ask what subject you study currently?

Education and History.
I was looking into History, but was leaning slightly towards Law. The decision is going to be very hard for me to make.
