I am a final year student at Northumbria University looking to undergo the GDL course in September. Although I have already applied to a few firms for VSs and TCs I still feel very in the dark about the whole process and I hope I can find the answers to my questions on this site.

    - Am I putting myself at any sort of disadvantage by staying at Northumbria to study the GDL? Although I have read that it does not matter to firms where the GDL has been studied, I worry it will look better if I study it at a RG univeristy such as Sheffield or Cardiff.

    - How badly will my poor A Level grades (B) (B) (C) affect me? They are all 'traditional' subjects as opposed to sports studies or textiles etc. I am not looking to work at a top City firm but I want to work in corporate law. I understand that many firms stipulate AAB minimum - I realise its very subjective but would a firm likely even consider a candiate with BBC?

    Thanks

It does not matter one jot where you study the GDL, because everyone studies exactly the same material; you just study the core qualifying modules. Same goes for where you study your LPC/BPTC (though some law firms want you to study a specialist LPC course at certain provider – they'll tell you that after you get a TC with them though).
