First day of driving since passing and I get pulled over by the police! The reason being was that my lights weren’t on.

I learned in a car that had auto lights and my one doesn’t so it was an easy mistake.

I’m aware other road users can flash their lights etc when not driving with their lights on to notify the driver, but I’m a bit worried that the rule is different if a police officer actually pulls you over to do it.

All the officer said was ‘You need your lights on’ and after around 3 apologies I put the lights back on and drove off.

Now what I’m wondering is: given that the police officer has pulled me over, will any further action come from this? (Points, fine etc)

Obviously not. They would tell you if they were taking any other action and lights not on isn’t that bad on the spectrum of breaking the rules

Nah, they can give you a £50 fine for no headlights, but the worst case scenario is someone knocks into you, then you'll get done for driving without due care/attention which is worth up to 9 points and a fine.
