For the last 16 years of my life I have been a loner and it has never bothered me before. I had a small group of people I spent time in school with and that was enough for me. But since entering sixth form and that friend group leaving I have had a desire to socialise, date and be like anyone else. This has come at the worst possible time because I have no social skills and poor self esteem, so I don't know why I suddenly desire this one thing I've never needed before. Any ideas as to what's causing it?

it could be the sudden change in environment and seeing new people! going to secondary with people you've seen for five years and then suddenly being in a building full of new people can make socialising seem like an exciting novelty!

what I'm trying to say is, you could be so used to people from secondary school that finding new people that could click with your personality seems exciting!

It's already too late. It's March. I think I'm going to be this way for the rest of my life, assuming I actually live it .
