Edexcel Specimen paper, momentum question

Hi guys, am looking at the a level specimen papers currently and I'm super confused by this. The mark scheme is saying the answer is D, but how can momentum not be conserved, surely the answer is B??? Is it a mistake or am i just being really thick lol thanks xo

I believe it is a mistake in the MS. The answer should be B.
