History is really good at A-Level but I suppose it depends on the topics you study at your sixth form as it varies.
Be prepared to write a lot of essay's! I only have a piece of coursework in my second year not in my first.
    Hope this helps

It depends on the exam board that the college chooses. I’m with Edexcel and it’s not coursework heavy, just a 5,000 word essay that counts for 20% of my final grade. I would say, yes, it is hard but it pushes you in many different skills. There’s A LOT of content and knowledge you have to know but that won’t be good enough if you can’t write good essays. If your writing skill is good, you enjoy it and you’re willing to put work in, you’ll really enjoy history.
