Is getting help with course work plagerizm

I have a private tutor that helped with coursework but only in the sense of explaining how to carry out certain reactions is this classed as plagerizm because my professor said that because the method used was different that I couldnt have done it even though my tutor teaches it differently

You can always find a source where that different method was used and say you took the idea from there.
