    Just wanted to know if you know anyone who got 3a's alevel by just revising through past papers

    Only if you actually understand the topics and aren't just getting things right because you can recite them. Otherwise you're in trouble when they introduce a new style of question that requires a different approach. Some subjects I did mainly focus on past papers though e.g. our geography text book wouldn't cover everything mentioned in the mark scheme. So I'd learn from the mark schemes instead.

    You've got to revise content first otherwise how would you be able to answer the questions in the first place?

    To answer your question, past papers are a large part of revision as a whole and allows you to massively improve your knowledge and exam technique but it won't help if you don't have the basic understanding of the subject first. It shouldn't be your sole method of revision - especially given the recent exam reforms.
