I have my English Language GCSE coming up and our teacher said that it was related to writing a story, but I'm not sure how I should begin revising as I don't know WHAT I should revise other than sentence structures. Anyone have any tips?

    Which exam board?
That's the thing. We haven't been told that either, but I'm guessing either AQA or Exedecel (or however you spell it)

Analyzing texts in lit will help you actually which is good. I recommend looking at a random text and seeing how well you can analyse its structure ect in a set amount of time. (30mins) Make sure you know key words like semantic field, enjambment ect. Also practice comparing texts, you can actually do language and lit at the same time but comparing two poems. It's the poems but you're also working out how to compare and contrast two set texts. Of course practice ones you've never seen, too as that's what will be on the exam. With persuasive writing really think about what techniques you can use to persuade the reader. (examiner) I recommend referring to them directly using 'you' and use other dramatic devices you've seen in texts, it all links together honestly. With creative writing, again use techniques you've learnt about use the senses of the person such as smell, sound and taste.(?) Also try to expand your vocabulary as it will help across all of English not just creative writing. I actually recommend brain training (i use an app called elevate its fun actually) to do this and reading. (i don't really like to read though but when i used to it helped)

I got the impression you were going to be given a creative writing task?

Do lots of past papers and study the mark scheme. If needs be, brush up on your spelling, work on your grammar, and learn plenty of synonyms.

Thank you. It's a lot to take in, but I should be fine.

Have a listen to those and see if they ring a bell. Look in the right hand playlist for further videos on topic.
