Has anyone here suspended a year of medical school for mental health? watch

I'm in third year of med school and going through some problems with depression. I'm considering suspending the year after easter, and starting the year afresh in september as my attendance and absences have been too many, too often. The five months off will give me a chance to get used to psychotherapy (which im on a waiting list for), a chance to recuperate mentally and physically, and correct some bad habits I've been harbouring for many years.

I've already repeated a year of med school for similar reasons, and I was wondering if anyone here has gone through the same thing? Is it worth taking 5 months out for and repeating the year? or should i just try soldier on and get through exams since there's only 1 term left?

It’s a difficult decision to make. It’s whatever you think is right. Advice from people who know you best like your family is probably best.
It’s whether you can handle it or not..
