    Hi,

So I have a chemistry teacher (I’m currently studying A2) and he goes through things so so quickly it’s ridiculous, we finished a section of inorganic in 5 hours (including questions). I am finding it so hard to learn and ask for help in lessons but it just doesn’t even seem like it helps, like goes through one small question (2 marks) with me and then doesn’t really help me for the rest of the lesson. We are a small class of 6/7 people, but I don’t feel I’m getting the support (especially as I got an E at AS).

I walked out of his lesson the other I was just so frustrated and understood hardly anything whereas everyone else seems to ‘get’ it. I apologised after and explained yet he began to lecture me on time management at home and not even offer any support.

He didn’t even cover half of the unit we are meant to have just ‘finished’.

I am at a loss as to what to do, I need a good grade in 3 months time

Any tips/advice etc much appreciated - I have 2 and 1/2 hours of chemistry tomorrow and it’s making me sick at the thought of it

You must remember that all chemistry teachers are, by definition, always right.

You should spend time going over the class within 24 hours, using text books and internet videos.

At the same time you should write down a list of questions that you have regarding your difficulties with the content or concepts under consideration. Be specific - do not say "I don't understand (whole thing)"

You can then ask to consult Professor Plum at a convenient time to go over the problems.

    Do this every day.

    Signed: A chemistry teacher
