I am completing the Student Finance 2018/19 for my youngest daughter who will be going into her 2nd year. My question is do i include her older sister who will have finished her final year this year (2017/18) and will be coming back home. At the moment we don't know whether she will have a job therefore she will be dependant on us.Thank youKath

    Hi Kathstandidge,

If you have any children who are wholly or mainly dependent on you (not including the student you are supporting), we will take £1130 off the household income for each child. This is referred to as the disregard.

If you're daughter is over 18 and not in education, they can still be classed as dependent on you, however, we will request evidence before the disregard is applied to the household income.

There is no set list of evidence as it's dependent on how you support them, but things like bank statements showing that you transfer money to them can be used if that was applicable.

    I hope this information helps.

    Kind regards,

    John.
