So currently I’m wondering whether to apply to biomed or not, I’ve read the prospectus but still not sure so the question is does anyone know what you study in biomed and what jobs can you get with that degree ? Personally I’m more of a practical and interactive person who enjoys communicating with patients, is this possible in biomed or is it mainly lab work?

Each course differs depending on the university but to give you a brief idea - at UEA you start with learning the basics such as biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology. Then you cover human physiology, microbiology, clinical genetics and investigations of these and finally get to specialise in your own interest and do an independent research project.

Overall you spend a lot of the times in labs but not much patient contact but this is the standard with all biomedicine degrees.
You can read more about the course here if you like!

In regards to jobs, biotechnologist, clinical biochemist, microbiology, healthcare scientist (those who work in hospital labs) with specialties in things such as genetics, haematology, immunology etc.

    I hope this helps
