    Hi

I am a first year Landscape Architecture student at Edinburgh University. I am not enjoying my time at the university, and not really enjoying my course either, and so I am wondering what my choices are for changing courses.

At the start of 1st year, it's seems to be widely allowed for students to switch universities (I think, from what I've heard and seen). Is this the case for 2nd years students too?
For example, at the start of my 2nd year, could I transfer to the 1st year of Economics at Loughborough (purely hypothetical), provided that my A2 grades are sufficient.
I know for certain courses at some universities they do not allow transfers of any kind. Is this purely relative to the course and university? I'll be contacting courses to see for myself, just wondering if anyone has any helpful insight from past experiences.

I have missed the deadline for UCAS re-application, so that is no longer an option, this is why I'm wondering if I can do it any other way.
The last option really, I suppose, is a gap year, where I can reapply through UCAS again, but I don't love this option.

So yeah, just wondering if there's anything I can do to switch universities next year, without using UCAS.

    Thanks!!! x

You have to use UCAS. My understanding is that the deadline is there so they only have to treat applications made in time equally. After the deadline they look at your app, but dont have to treat you the same. Doesnt mean you cant get an offer, then theres extra and clearing after that.

If you dont like the course then leave and definitely DO NOT start year 2. SAAS provide a gift year so you can write off one year and still have finance for a degree.

Find a degree you wish to do at a uni you wish to go to. Choose carefully and start again.

I will just emphasise again. Do not start the second year for even a day as that will count as you as using finance for that year. As it is take great care in your next move as you have enough funding for a new degree, but no mistakes. GL.
