I am currently doing the BSc (Hons) Computing and IT degree with the open university:
At the moment I am working full time and planned to do 60 credits a year resulting in a 6 year coruse, but after trying to OU I feel I would prefer to study full time and complete my degree in half the time.
The only issue being money, as a distant learner I am not entitleed to any funding apart from cost of coruse, but with a mortgage, bills and a car to fund it would be impossible to study 120 credits a year with the OU.
I have considered a brick university, such as Brunel as I live in close proximity and being a mature student (albeit 25!!).
My question is, would it be possible to complete stage 1 at the OU (planned for April 19), then transfer these credits to Brunel and start from Stage 2 there, resulting in only 2 further years of study at Brunel.
Considered coruse at Brunel:
I apolgies for my lack of knowledge in this area, I am new to the university relam and have no one that would really be able to help, Google just returns all sorts of contradicting information about distance learning & maintenance fees etc.
I have also contacted Brunel but they did not provide my help other than I would need to apply to UCAS.
Any advise about possible credit transfer or distance learning funding to a completly clueless person would be greatly appricated, so I can study for a degree and not end up in a cardboard box!
How are you celebrating?
