Hi - Parent (Mum) question. My 19 year old daughter is applying for maintenance finance. I moved in with my partner 12 months ago. My salary is approx £13k. My partners is over £50K. I understand I have to included his full salary for 2016/17 even though we were only living together for the last month of the 2016/17 tax year. He also pays child maintenance for his 2 children who we have staying with us 3 days a week. It seems unfair that his salary will lower the amount my daughter will receive for maintenance finance just because I now live with my partner. He will not be financially supporting my daughter at all for Uni. Can this be taken into consideration when applying for the loan?

    Hi Kas246,

When providing the financial details to support your daughters application, it will be the gross income for yourself and your partner for 2016/17. This is so the finance can be assessed using a potential figure for this years income.

I absolutely do appreciate your situation there but that is how the assessment will work when calculating your daughters finance.

    Kind regards,

    John.
