# Simultaneous Equations with Fractions watch

1. Hi, does anybody know how to work out a fractional simultaneous equation with two unknown values? One on the numerator, one on the denominator?

Here’s what I need to solve..

x - 1 x + 6
—— = 3 ——— =4
y - 2 y - 1

You can easily turn them into linear ones to solve, under the condition that , and then just solve the two as usual.

For example, you can turn into and hence .

Rearrange each equation (separately) into the form ax + by = c, then proceed as normal for simultaneous equations.
