Yes, it can do. For Reasons:
    - All about how many likes/followers people have.
    - Makes people feel jealous.

    Against:
    - Helps people keep in touch
    - Helps to create new friends

Social media is just a symptom. The actual problem is found on how we construct our identities, based on two things: social practices and historical discourses. On historical discourses we have 1) Romanticism and 2) Modernism... they don´t really add up. Romanticism is all about being complete when being with someone who loves you and you love back. Its about emotions and partners. Modernism is the whole "you don´t need anyone to be complete". Its entirely logical. Modern times push individuals to be that, individuals. Suddenly we are celebrated because of our differences, pushing ourselves to pursue introspection and other solo activities, leaving behind or hiding emotions and the search for company/partners.

    Welcome to postmodernity.

Maybe mention an example of a time social media made you feel lonely or part of a community.
Like now for example. You needed help with your speech and so instead of doing it alone you looked for support on an online community (TSR is a social media platform after all).
