hi, this may be a stupid question but i have never really traveled by train before and cant find the answer to this anywhere online, i was looking at tickets online for fratton to st davids (Exeter) just to get a an idea of prices ( i will buy at the train station on the day) and saw that there is a "1 change" at westbury and im confused at this. does this mean i have to get the train from fratton to westbury and then get off and buy another ticket to get on another train to st davids or is my ticket to st davids from fratton all i need to change train or does "1 change" just mean the train stops at "westbury". Im confused, if anyone can clear that up it would be great

It means that you have to get off the train at Westbury and get another train to your final destination (St David's). You don't have to pay for another ticket ! The fare is valid from your starting station through to your final destination.

However, the ticket machine may give you more than one ticket, since you are changing trains (i.e. one for each train journey made). If you book on your phone via the Trainline app for example, it gives you a digital ticket with a QR code.

If you buy tickets in advance online it's usually cheaper than buying at the station on the day.
