I don't even have a topic/question yet for the IRP. A classmate is doing the school system and comparing it to the British system - suggestions of a similarly easy and certain to be acceptable subject????

Didn't you get any guideline in class / from the teacher? Here's an AQA spec on the IRP:
http://filestore.aqa.org.uk/resource...VEL-TG-IRP.PDF

I also found a guideline someone published on tes.com – it's for A-level French but you'll find a list of areas to start developing ideas with.
https://www.tes.com/teaching-resourc...rview-11627995
See screenshot of page 7 in particular...

Generally the topic or "title" needs to be researchable... You'll have to consult with your teacher in any case.
