When I apply for finance for my part time course I will be living with my parents, 6 months into the course I will be moving out with my daughter (single parent) and will not be dependent on parents financially, as I also have a job, how do I change this part way through the academic year?

    Hi Chloebeck,

From the 2018/19 academic year new part time students will be able to apply for a Maintenance Loan.

A students entitlement will be determined by 3 things:

    • Where they are living/studying
    • Household income
    • Intensity of study

Initially you would be assessed as independent living with your parents, if your living situation changes during the academic year then you can send in a Change of Circumstances form.

You will then be reassessed can reassess you for a higher amount of loan, as living elsewhere, on a pro rata basis.

    Thanks Rona
