You haven't even got there yet and you want to change. You might get there and make really good friends.
Smoking means that students are allowed to smoke in their rooms, it's not like the whole block will be one big stinky brothel.

By the way I think all single rooms have internet now, as someone posted in a different thread.
How did you find out that your block is smoking/quiet area?

yeh i know ill probably love it when i get there and i know i'll like the people, it was just a bit of a bummer this morning when i first got it cus i hadnt got anything that id asked for (i said ensuite (altho i dont mind i havent got that), internet, no smoking and not in a quiet area)
i did think that all rooms had internet but in the booklet i got it said that only D and E did and im in A block. although, steerpike says that he rung up and the lady said A block should too. that the main thing thats annoying me, as i live 5 hours away and may not even have a phone in my room.
as for the smoking issue, im not that bothered i guess now because most of my friends smoke and it is only in bedrooms...it just seems strange that despite askign for non smoking i didn't get it - i sent my form off within an hour of getting it!!!!
it says in the booklet i got with the acocmodation about the smoking and quiet area - just A block is the quiet area..youd think they could have put me in another block :/ grrr i dont even think they bothered looking at my requirements...

anyweny, i am feeling slightly better now...it is around the lake which i liked and it is catered and it should have internet *hopefully*

As a rule it is meant to be no loud noise anywhere after 12 however if the porters hear they usually just ask you and you just have to hope there are no people who are going to phone Security!

I ended up in Vanbrugh .... I was hoping for James or somewhere nice so I was pretty bummed about it too... No ensuite, no internet, no proper kitchen blah blah... But when I thought about it, I can take a portable grill to make up for no grill in the kitchen, I found all all the rooms should have internet, and ahhh what the heck who cares if you have to share a bathroom! Lol Im just trying to be optimistic but it cheered me up loads!

wow - three block A Langwithithians all on UKL! Do you know if we have one of thos pantry style kitchens or a normal kitchen? I still haven't got any information about it sent to me yet.
