    Hi,

A couple of months ago my doctor gave me the number of Steps 2 Wellbeing because I’ve struggled with eating and eating in public.

I have just had my third session of CBT and he’s suggested I go see my doctor ASAP. Probably because my eating has become worse (starving myself even more than before and vomiting even though I haven’t eaten much), feeling I want to run away, and some mild difficult thoughts. He asked how much I’ve eaten since Sunday and then questioned how I felt about how little I had to eat I replied that I felt happy with how things are because I’m in control. I also said that I don’t want to improve on the eating.

However I have no idea what to even say when I go to the doctors. I also feel like they’re not going to take me seriously because I am not anywhere near underweight. Any ideas please?

    Hey sorry to hear this.

The psych has told you to go back because your situation may not be resolved by CBT alone. Its a meant thing and you seem to have a dysfunctional relationship with food plus other feelings. If you dont know what to say then just print off your post and hand that to them, then they can take it from there.

You can also chat to the BEATS youthline. The control rings alarm bells.
They also have tons of information you can read on eating disorders (you dont have to be underweight to have one).

Thank you very much for your response. It has made me feel a load better about going. I think the thought of getting the issue resolved is kind of scary. Thank you for the link to. Will check that out as soon as possible

To have an eating disorder then you dont have to be underweight. Beat are the specialists plus they will know how you feel. Talk to them and they will understand. You can even e-mail. but I think a phone call will give you extra connection. Dont forget they deal with it every day. They dont judge, are there to help and are confidential.

GPs and the NHS provision isnt always great. They also have forums.

The stage you are at is you are still in a position of self awareness where you can take some action in getting yourself better. If you try your hardest now to get on top, then you can prevent it being more serious. If you get stuck then drop me a line.
