I have just finished a 4 month bulk and plan on starting my cut soon. I am currently on 3400 calories and plan to bring this down to around 2200. Do I have to do this gradually? Or is there no issue with me doing it over a period of 3 or 4 days

Do it gradually. You'll be ridiculously hungry if you just drop down like that. Ideally drop down gradually over the space of a few weeks.
