Hi just wanted some pep's opinions on this..

Myself and some friends often go out on student nights (Thursday/Friday), we are undoubtably loud but reasonable in that we are quiet during exam season. Given we are freshers living amongst other students not family we see this is normal/ expected behaviour. However recently someone below us posted a rude message on one of our block group chats about the noise - we understand people want to sleep but we think its somewhat hypocritical/ unneccesary

how should we deal with this/ what should we say

    How is it hypocritical?
When they have a party it is loud and they don't tell anyone in advance

Just say that you think it’s unfair that they complain about your controlled noise seeming you are in uni and they have parties too

Just tell them they make noise too so can't really complain about it.

if they really throw loud parties in the same way then it is quite hypocritical and you might wanna confront them about it. Or just ignore them, works either way

You're in a community with a whole bunch of people learning how to be adult. There are going to be moments like this cos people just aren't used to dealing with this sort of stuff yet. Please don't take it too seriously and try to stay calm and polite.
You can either say nothing, or you could write back saying sorry you disturbed them, you try to keep things to a respectful level, but unfortunately halls aren't very sound proof. If you know that it is the same person who throws parties themselves you could say that you can hear their parties too, but remember to keep it calm. You don't want to end up having a fight over a bit of noise.
