Hi, I believe you would still be registered as an adult nurse however I have heard of adult nurses working in NICU or maternity or in mental health units, however I don’t think this is very common so with an adult nursing degree you may be able to work in a children’s ward or department. Although I have heard that the scope for progression is limited if you are working in an different area to the one you are registered in.
Of course you could go on to do a pgdip in children’s nursing after finishing an adult nursing degree and be dual registered (however this may have its own issues of maintaining the dual registration).
I hope this helps a bit.
