Hi all. I’m currently a (very) mature, 39, mum of three and I would move to become a social worker. I am very interested in doing the degree course but have only got my GCSEs and a Business Administration qualification. Is there another route into the course? I have had a look about but cannot find out any information. I am interested in Stirling Uni or Uni of Dundee.
Also, has anyone does this course?
And how daunting is it going to uni at almost 40?

If I was in this situation I’d contact those universities directly to ask about what sort of qualifications they’d accept.
I’d be surprised if they’d accept you without doing additional study and undertaking work experience though. Have you researched access courses or a levels?

Returning to education after many years away from it can be daunting at any age. It sounds like a scary step but also a courageous one .

Apologies for the slow response. Thanks for the reply, I will go and look into access courses now 👍🏻 And send off an enquiry email to the Universities.
    Thanks again.

Hi, I know Stirling uni do their own version of an access to he course part time in evenings. Alternatively you can look at a SWAP access course, these are considered full time (I do 3 full days at college plus study time at home).

    That’s brilliant, thank you!
