I have obtained a place on the 2018 conference but I'm worried about the vagueness of the dress code.
I basically live in trainers so what type of clothes and footwear would be acceptable for 'smart casual attire for evening events and respectable clothing for the day' as the emails have put it?
I know that it means I can't wear anything too revealing or short but I just want to get a general feel for what people wore last year.

    Thank you

Many people wear something similar to (or same as) what they wear to go to school.
If it says ‘smart casual, a suit or a jacket & trousers are a safe option. A tie is usually not needed.
