I'm currently retaking at home. My other two a-level subjects are going well but my English Literature isn't. I had to find another tutor as the other one I had indirectly didn't want to teach me and made excuses. In late January I found a tutor who works in a top private school. In terms on where I am we're making solid progress. I've learnt one book with my other tutor, but I've nearly finished the other with my new tutor. I have one more to go which will take 1.5 weeks as the book is like 90 pages and that's the first year books all done.

However, I still have to re-learn the 2nd year which is 2 books and a set of poems with an unseen poem question. I'm starting to feel stressed out and demotivated as I feel I won't achieve an A* in English Literature. It's vital I get it but does anyone think this is still achievable even after everything I said. I'm in a good place with my other 2 subjects so I can spend more time on English. P.s. I got a D last year and a C at AS without doing revision but I revised last year and got a D.

work harder than you have ever worked before

I have found with good private tutors that you go through course material really fast - as seems to be the case here. What you need to do, and I am sure you have been doing, is keeping up with the work and making notes after class, otherwise it will all just fall out of you head.

However, it is also EXTREMELY important that you do not worry to the extent that you are no longer getting any sleep. KEEP THE HOURS OF SLEEP REALISTIC.

    Good luck with your exams.

P.s. I managed to teach myself GCSE Physics and Chemistry, so I am sure that you can do extremely well with a personal tutor behind you and the determination to do well.

I'm prepared to work like I have never worked before, so hopefully I can get that A*, but I'm going to have stay motivated till June and have no social life till then.
