Up to 1,000 children could have suffered in Britain’s worst known abuse scandal - where sex gangs targeted girls as young as 11.

The rape hell of vulnerable young girls in one town - Telford - went on for a shocking 40 years, the Sunday Mirror can reveal.

As many as 1,000 children could have suffered at the merciless hands of perverts and torturers in Telford since the 1980s.

Girls as young as 11 have been lured from their families to be drugged, beaten and raped in an epidemic that, say victims, is still ongoing.

Unfortunately, predominately Asian grooming gangs aren't uncommon in the UK.

The BBC doesn't think it should bother us with the story. You will look in vain for it on the main news website, or indeed UK news. The only mention online I could find was in the Shropshire section of the West Midlands news round up. And that was just a statement from the Chief Constable saying this not new, nothing to see here, move on.

The extent to which the BBC (not the Mirror or the Times, kudos to both of them) are downplaying the evil and scale of this nationwide abuse is extraordinary. It is nothing short of a lie by omission.

They think they are increasing social cohesion, because of the Muslim/white child aspect of this. But it doesn't dampen down the anger and increase social cohesion, it makes things ten times worse. We need to explore the causes of this, and if this raises uncomfortable questions about some aspects of the culture of second generation Muslim immigrants, so be it. The issues need to be explored not swept under the carpet for fear of being accused or racism or Islamophobia (sic).

Of course the causes need to be understood, to try to prevent anything in future. Those responsible should also face justice.

As I read more about Rotherdam, I had to convince myself this was not an operation run by a group of wretched lowlifes. But influential people ready to go the extra mile to destroy any evidence, threaten any witnesses or god knows what.

    Destroying evidence: https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news...fice-1-8740898

    Threatening witnesses: https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/resea...reat-1-6831507

God knows what (arresting victims): http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-29125890

The race issue is turning out to be a convenient distraction to appease the emotionally charged crowd. Yes, south Asian men are major participants in this rings; but holding the pitchforks for immigration reforms or narrating a Muslim-flavored rhetoric is simply a deflection from the issue at hand.

BBC news did not report on an old story. What a shocker. The BBC hate white people and want sex gangs to prosper!

I think the government and local authorities have learnt their lesson here. It's very clear that the public interest is to expose such gangs and not invest in vast cover ups.

The right need to stop flogging the dead horse and divert their outrage towards matters that are actually still relevant instead of outdated stories. The problem is current issues and narratives does not support the right's way of thinking so they desperately bring up old news.

It is not an old story. There are outstanding cases that the police have not been investigating and the town's MP is asking for a Public Inquiry into the actions of the Police and Social Services. If this was on any other topic the BBC would be all over this.

You second point (if it can be called that) is a straw man. I never said that the BBC hate white people, nor that they want sex gangs to prosper. I don't think either to be the case so I would hardly say that.

What I did say is that the BBC has downplayed this story. Big time. Because they (mistakenly) believe they are serving the interests of social cohesion. In fact not subjecting this to the full scrutiny of debate risks tearing our society apart.

Further, the BBC is meant to be a news organisation, its suppression (what other word can one use?) of this story is one example (of many) of why it is increasingly no longer trusted.

It's not Muslims, it's South Asians. Know the difference.

That's really sad, but there is a reason why these things only happen in lower class areas. People need to get educated.

Of course you call them ASIAN grooming gangs, when it is predominantly MUSLIM grooming gangs.

It's an injustice to the Chinese, Indians and other peaceful ethnicities who are living in harmony with the indigenous population and have integrated well

It is Muslims though, just because the media is too scared to call them by what they are doesn't mean that they are south asian.

If you would have taken the time to look through the links OP provided then you would see most of the gangs are of BRITISH PAKISTANI backgrounds.

Why should they be called Muslims?

I guess when whites who celebrate Christmas and Easter (since it's Christianity related) commit a crime, they shouldn't be called White but Christians?

I wonder what kind of person could do such a thing? i mean they must come from a background that has zero respect for women, especially women that are not from their culture.

but who am i to criticise anyone, i'm just a non-rapist white male father to two.
