I want to study Biochemistry/ Biological Natsci, but I've only got 6 IGCSE`s, 4A*s and 2A`s, and I've found out the average UK student has 9+ so I'm pretty much panicking. I'm doing Biology and Chemistry AS and am predicted AA in them plus Maths which I'm doing as linear A level and have gotten A grade scores in from mocks. What are my options? Will any of the top unis (Cambridge, Imperial, KCL,UCL etc) consider my application?

They consider the number of A* in relation to how many GCSEs you have - they are aware that lots of international students may have fewer than British students.

Is 4A* out of six ok or is it below average relative to the typical successful applicant?

Yes, you're fine, as you have all A/A*s. What are your A levels and what do you expect to get in them? Or IB if you do it.

That's what matters more than IGCSEs.

    Thanks for replying.
I'm doing Chem and Bio as modular so I have AA predictions for AS and my school will base A level predictions on the grades I actually get in AS. My third subject is maths which I'm doing as reformed GCE so I wont have AS, just A level but so far my prediction is at A. I'm doing Mock 2 and then a final exam which will decide whether I'll get A* or A prediction.
I want to aim high but I also want to be realistic so I'm probably not applying to Oxford since their rep already told me I'm below average in IGCSE/GCSE's. I think the situation will be quite similar with Cambridge. I'm working towards A*A*A* for A level but I feel like that won't even matter by the time I apply since I'll only have 2 AS and my IG's to back me up.

I just want to know what other options I have

Cambridge will be less concerned about your GCSEs. If you have predictions which meet or exceed their entry requirements you will almost certainly get an interview.
