best thing that I did which got me an A* (Welsh student so not using numbers) was just to do at least 2 past papers a week. it really doesn't take much time up and it's well worth it for the grade

Make sure you have a broad understanding on the texts and poetry. Ensure you have quotes, themes, characters in the bag and you'll be fine

I also achieved an 8 at GCSE and was 5 marks away from a 9.

I got a 9 in lit last year and studied macbeth and power and conflict. The best way is as whitneeyle said and to ensure you know the quotes and themes and characters. With power and conflict, you're best off learning the 'big four' poems that can be used for almost any exam question: Ozymandias, Exposure, War Photographer and Poppies. if you like to learn via videos, search for mrsallesteachesenglish on youtube, his videos are very helpful and i found them to make revision almost bearable.
