Hi, I recently went for a swab test around my genitals, had a spot and wanted to make sure it wasn't any form of HSV.

Anyways, I've had swab tests done before and they usually just rubbed a dry cotton bud over it and put it into a container, however this time when they did it, the cotton bud was wet and had some sort of liquid coating?

Has anyone else had swab tests around the pubic area - did the cotton bud have a wet coating for you?

It's probably just the transport medium to preserve any possible viruses.
